Studer D-827

Price: $4,500

This is an iconic, legendary sounding 48 track tape machine, that is in excellent condition. It always lived on the TNN/MTV audio-truck and was only moved a couple of times until It’s current studio location. It comes with a few spare parts and multiple user manuals. I am also including at least a dozen reels (maybe a few more) of Quantegy and 3m tape.

It is a ½ inch; digital tape format with 16-bit 48K resolution (comes with the optional 24 bit resolution card that limits recording track count to 24). This coupled with the 24 bit (32 bit internal floating point) Neve Capricorn sounded amazing. If you would like to hear a sample of this- check this link out: Rich Severson Jumpin’ Java (on Spotify, or YouTube - ). This was recorded and mixed entirely within the Capricorn/Studer at 24bit. The only external device was an EMT genuine plate reverb and a TC Electronic 2000 digital reverb.

I was unable to determine the actual hours on the machine (please let me know if anyone knows how to find this). That said, the hours on the tape machine are relatively low. It was only used (for the most part) to record shows and occasionally remix them. Only A few studio projects were done on this beautiful D827. (including the one linked above) It has a brand-new pinch roller installed, and everything (including the auto-locater) is in very good condition and fully functional.

If you still have and are using one of the beautiful sounding tape machines this is great deal. It was connected to the Capricorn via Madi, thus, does not have any converters installed. I am also including in this sale about 12 reels of mostly unused but formatted ½ inch Ampex/Quantegy 467 /3m tape. (Currently about $80 new/$50 used plus shipping on eBay).

If interested or if you have any questions- Please message me and I will get back to you.

Equipment is located at a recording studio in Fresno, Ca and I need to move it quicky so motivated to sell. You will need to arrange viewing and pick up with me.
