Description: This guitar is for Malcolm and AC/DC fans, but more financially accessible.  It is a Gretsch 5000 series Electromatic, which is an excellent quality instrument, and was modified to what you see in the photos. No -- it's not an exact match of the Gretsch G6131-MY, but it nails the vibe. It looks, plays and sounds awesome, and costs 75% less!

Pickup: Installed is a TV Jones Power'Tron featuring a DC resistance of only 7.8k Ohms.
**Included as a bonus is a Gretsch Fidel-i-Tron pickup featuring a DC resistance of only 5k Ohms.

Mods: Removing the neck pickup not only simplifies the guitar, but it make it sound better. There's a reason why Malcolm did it to his Gretsch. Since the neck pickup is gone, there's not an extra set of magnets pulling on the strings, so sustain is increased. The void that's left behind functions like a sound hole on an acoustic guitar, or f-holes on an semi-hollow body. On this guitar, it lets the chambered body resonate more. We switched to a Gretsch trapeze tail piece to lengthen the free length of the strings and get closer to the feel and tone of the original BEAST.

Electronics: Since this is a single pickup guitar, we left the tone knob active to provide more tonal possibilities.  With the tone knob rolled to zero, you can get warm tones that sound like a neck humbucker.  With the tone knob on 10, you're essentially going straight from the bridge pickup to the output jack and bypassing the tone cap, just like Malcolm, so you get that wonderful bright tone that made AC/DC famous! We also added a treble-bleed so you don't loose treble when you turn down the volume. And while we were in there, we upgraded the output jack to a Switchcraft #11 for long term reliability.
