The EVH Striped Series Shapes Maple in White and Black is a stripped-down performance guitar built around one of Eddie Van Halen's most recognizable visual concepts. Inspired by the guitar Eddie used on the 1981 Fair Warning tour, this version pairs the bold black-and-white SHAPES graphic with a simple single-humbucker layout, a Floyd Rose tremolo, and EVH's D-Tuna system. It's a natural fit for hard rock and high-gain players who want immediate response, aggressive lead capability, and a control layout that stays out of the way.
The mahogany body is paired with a one-piece bolt-on quartersawn maple neck reinforced with graphite for stability. EVH's Modified "C" backshape, 12" to 16" compound radius maple fingerboard, and 22 jumbo frets are all geared toward fast playing, with comfortable chording down low and a flatter feel for bends and lead work higher up. A heel-mounted truss rod wheel makes setup adjustments easy, while the Floyd Rose R3 locking nut supports the double-locking tremolo system.
A single direct-mount EVH Wolfgang humbucker keeps the electronics focused, feeding a lone master volume control with a 500K EVH Bourns low-friction pot for fast swells and easy on-the-fly control. The EVH-branded Floyd Rose locking tremolo and D-Tuna handle aggressive vibrato work and quick Drop D changes, while EVH-branded tuners and oversized strap buttons round out the stage-ready hardware. We think this model works because it doesn't overcomplicate the formula, it gives you the look, feel, and core performance features players associate with Eddie's stripped-down approach in a guitar built to be played hard.
