The original Vox Continental organ was introduced in 1962 and quickly became a favorite among touring musicians for its big sound in a portable package. It was used by the Animals’ on "House of the Rising Sun" and by Ray Manzarek with The Doors among many others.
Today, we're exploring the "Connie" reissue released by Vox this year in both 61- and 73-key versions.
One of the most exciting parts of this keyboard is the bank of LED touch strips that can be mapped to drawbars, synth parameters, or graphic EQ. You can drastically change the sound of your keys just by sliding your finger along any of the strips.
There are also plenty of effects built right into the instrument that can make your keys sound like anything from a large cathedral organ to an '80s-style synth to a soft and chirping orchestral flute to all of the shades of a marimba.
