The Pioneer SA-8800 is a vintage 80 WPC integrated amplifier released in 1980, featuring Pioneer's NSA (Non-Switching Amplifier) technology.  It offers a frequency response of 5Hz to 100kHz and a total harmonic distortion of 0.05%

Key Specifications:

  • Power Output: 80 watts per channel into 8Ω (stereo)
  • Damping Factor: 55
  • Input Sensitivity: 2.5mV (MM), 150mV (line)
  • Signal-to-Noise Ratio: 90dB (MM), 110dB (line)
  • Semiconductors: 3 ICs, 6 FETs, 73 transistors, 49 diodes
  • Dimensions: 453 x 155 x 425mm
  • Weight: 15.6kg

Notable Features:

  • The NSA design combines the merits of Class A and Class B amplifiers, allowing transistors to operate in the active region to reduce heat loss and distortion at high frequencies.
  • It includes Pre-out (1V) and standard line output (150mV).
  • Unlike the similar Pioneer SX-880 receiver (which outputs 60 WPC), the SA-8800 is an amplifier-only unit with higher power output and a wider frequency response.
