The BJFE Baby Blue Overdrive Deluxe with Toggle Switch is a deluxe version of the BBOD, the original BJFE product, with the addition of a booster.
An additional toggle switch allows you to switch between different bass response levels.
The earliest BBOD was called Fuzz1. Technically, the BBOD is a fusion of dynamic overdrive and fuzz designed with discrete circuitry.
This overdrive pedal has a unique sound, covering everything from highly sensitive low-gain drive to heavily compressed distortion.
In addition to asymmetrical clipping that creates a waveform similar to the distortion of an ECC83 preamp tube, it also produces a rounded tone by suppressing harmonic components.
This is reminiscent of the distortion that occurs when the output transformer exceeds its limits in a push/pull stage.
From a guitarist's perspective, this is the most natural and supremely sweet overdrive/fuzz pedal.
Drive knob: This control allows you to set various types of distortion, a wide range of gain, and sustain. Setting it low results in a sensitive distortion pattern, a sound that requires careful picking. Setting it high increases compression, which reduces responsiveness but provides a more stable distortion and a thicker sound. It's best to start shaping your sound with this control around the 11 o'clock position.
Treble Knob: Adjusts the high-frequency components of the output signal. It's also ideal for adjusting the tonal balance between when the device is ON and OFF. The BBOD DLX has particularly high treble response, and even with the Treble knob set to almost minimum (near maximum when turned counterclockwise), it can sometimes provide the best balance depending on the equipment it's paired with. If you need more treble, try setting this knob higher than the center (clockwise). Start shaping your sound with this knob around the 12 o'clock position.
Bass knob: Adjusts the low-frequency components of the output signal.
Volume knob: Adjusts the balance of signal levels when the effect is OFF and ON. Start by setting it to 12 o'clock, and then adjust the tone from there.
Boost knob: Adjusts the boost level of the clean boost, which can be turned ON/OFF with the GlobalBoost footswitch on the left. The boost can also be used independently.
Toggle switch: Switches the bass response, recreating the sound of modern BBODs and the earliest BBODs. At small speakers or low volumes, the difference may be barely noticeable. The current model has a slightly more energetic sound.
The Baby Blue Overdrive Deluxe with Toggle Switch is designed to work with high-impedance guitar pickups.
It's especially designed for low-output models, and when used with low-output passive pickups, you can freely adjust the gain using the guitar's volume control.
The output is designed for high-input impedance devices such as guitar amplifiers, many effects pedals, and tape echoes. However, connecting low-input impedance devices such as some effects pedals after the BBOD may cause it to malfunction.
The Baby Blue Overdrive Deluxe with Toggle Switch operates on a 6F22 9V battery or a standard 2.1mm barrel type center-negative DC 9V adapter.
When the supply voltage drops, the sound becomes muffled, and the LED also dims.
In that case, try replacing the battery or checking the connected adapter.
Condition: Overall paint discoloration, but no issues with functionality. Points to note: Consigned used item. Accessories: Box. Warranty: No warranty as this is a consigned used item.
