Here for sale we have an Epiphone FT-79 Texan in Vintage Sunburst. Made in the USA in 202 this guitar features a Gloss Nitrocellulose Lacquer finished Solid Mahogany back and sides with a Solid Spruce top. A Mahogany set-neck is topped with a 20 fret Rosewood fingerboard. Other appointments include Deluxe tuning machines with Cream buttons.

The Mahogany neck plays very well, with a ‘Rounded D’ profile feeling comfortable in the hand and providing a smooth and responsive playing experience in all registers. The Gloss finish to the rear assists with smooth transitions up and down the neck, making the 25.5” scale feel easily manoeuvrable. The Rosewood fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with its 12” radius provides a nicely flat and consistent surface right the way up the register. The familiar lines of the square shoulder dreadnought body shape are as smooth and comfortable as ever, ensuring an enjoyable playing experience in either standing or seated positions. 

The voice of the Texan is bright and shimmery thanks to its Mahogany and Spruce construction. The low end is understated yet detailed, with a smooth midrange that ensures your chord playing sounds tight and controlled. The top end is bright enough to accommodate both strumming and fingerstyle techniques with ease. The Solid Spruce top projects very well, providing a wide dynamic range that feels sensitive to the player’s touch. This is a guitar which sounds just as at home as part of an ensemble as it does as a solo instrument.

Aesthetic Condition:

Headstock: Overall excellent condition, the front face demonstrates consistent light scratching causing a slight hazing of the finish under direct lighting at certain angles. A light indentation can be identified to the top rear edge, piercing the finish slightly. A small tooling mark can be seen on the treble side of the nut.

Neck: Overall very good condition, the rear of the neck demonstrates very light scratching and indentation throughout the register. This is visible only under direct lighting at certain angles and cannot be discerned beneath the thumb. Some of the side inlays have turned yellow.

Body: Overall very good condition, the front face demonstrates a moderate scratch on the bass side of the lower bout, piercing the finish slightly. All aspects of the body demonstrate very light scratching and indentation visible only under direct lighting at certain angles. Epiphone sticker on the scratchplate has peeled away slightly on one corner.

Condition of Frets:

The frets demonstrate moderate signs of use, with some indentation beneath the treble strings in the early register. There is considerable material remaining for future fret work.

Current Set Up:

Truss Rod: Fully functional. Truss rod tool (5/16" socket) not included.

Hardware: Fully functional with very light signs of use. the saddle is slightly ill fitting and does not fill the slot entirely, however this does not affect playability or functionality.

Structural: No concerns or issues to note.

Height of the string from the 12th Fret-1.75mm - Bass 2.5mm

Please be aware that the action on a guitar may move slightly in transit and this measurement is the current height.
