Originally a 2008 Gibson Les Paul Traditional, refinished in 2018 in nitro and extensively upgraded and modified.
Bringing the guitar as close to “burst” spec as possible the following has been done:
Original thick plasticky “nitro” finish removed
Phenolic Headstock veneer removed, original MOP logo reinstalled in traditional holly veneer
Bone nut
Nashville tuneomatic tailpiece holes plugged and redrilled for ABR-1 threaded posts
Binding thinned to match 1950s spec
Entire guitar refinished in burst process - tinted pore filler, nitro lacquer, etc.
serial number stamped with original font stamp in burst format (original serial number available on request)
Headstock silkscreened with vintage correct Les Paul Model in original gold ink upside down as is seen on 1950s lefties
frets leveled, fretboard polished to 1000 grit and boiled linseed oil
Hardware:
Kluson single ring single line green key machine heads with conversion bushings
Neck pickup:
Mojotone PAF with Alnico 3 magnet
Bridge pickup:
Seymour Duncan Antiquity
Faber bridge and tailpiece
Creamtone poker chip and catalin switch tip
Custom creamtone pickguard
Gibson historic pickup rings and output jack plate
CTS vintage taper volume pots, Gibson 500k tone pots, paper in oil capacitors
Gibson Historic 5 latch lifton style case
This guitar is one of the best sounding and playing left handed Les Pauls you will find today. I wish I didn’t have to let it go - the conversion was a labor of love, but I am running out of space and have to make some tough calls this year on what to purge.
Cosmetic condition of the guitar - as you can see in photos, it’s been played, used, enjoyed, but not abused. Lots of chips and dings, a few finish touch ups if you look close, plus the burst isn’t perfect perfect as it is a respray and not factory. The guitar is almost fully checked, there’s some checking in the top that seems to come and go with temperature and humidity but the back is fully cracked.
Non-burst features: It is a 2 piece back, 9 hole weight relief (guitar comes in at 9.5 lbs) short neck tenon guitar. I also did not replace the inlays with celluloid - still the original acrylic. The bone nut is my preference but a true burst would have a nylon nut.
