Using Roland's ABM (Analog Behavior Modeling) engine, the JX-08 delivers 20-voice polyphony, bi-timbral operation with dual and split modes, and a full complement of hands-on controls derived from the original PG-800 programmer.

ABM Sound Engine & PG-800 Controls

The original JX-8P required a separate PG-800 programmer for full sound editing access. The JX-08 integrates those controls directly onto its front panel, giving you immediate access to every synthesis parameter via sliders and buttons. The ABM engine enables 20-voice polyphony, a massive leap from the JX-8P's 6 voices, and the bi-timbral architecture lets you run two patches simultaneously in dual or split configurations with 10 voices per part.

Sound memory includes 32 presets from the original JX-8P plus 111 new patches tuned for contemporary styles, with 256 total preset slots for your own creations. A 2-part 64-step polyphonic sequencer with motion recording and a random pattern generator (128 pattern memories) provide deep performance capabilities, while 17 onboard effects including chorus, delay, phaser, overdrive, lo-fi comp, and pitch shifter let you sculpt your sound without external processing.
