Framus Strato 4 1974 - natur

Framus was a German instrument maker that produced many different types of instruments during the golden age of German guitar making between the 1950s and 1980s. Framus was known worldwide for their high quality standards and constant innovation. This is the reason why players of all levels chose Framus guitars as their instruments. They were easy to play, worth the money, beautiful in design and overall very well rounded with German quality.

The bass is in really good condition for its age and has only a few signs of use, as you can see in the pictures. The electrics are fully functional, the switches and pots work as they should and the pickups produce a nice vintage sound, perfect for the music of the 60s and 70s. The neck is straight and the action is low, making the guitar comfortable to play. The frets have been polished and the fingerboard oiled.

In its first attempts to build electric basses, Framus found it difficult to move away from the acoustic resonance body, as was already the case with electric guitars: the Hollywood Bass from the late fifties was still based on a semi-solid construction. It was nicknamed the Star Bass, as were some later models: Hollywood Star Bass, Strat®o Star Bass, Strat®o de Luxe Star Bass or even Framus Golden de Luxe Star Bass - which didn't sound bad at all. And given the famous musicians who used the instruments, these names were not just empty words - German basses already had a good reputation among professional musicians in the sixties.

This model was built in 1974. It is from the famous Strato de Luxe series.

Electronics - excellent condition (1 Vol pot is stiff, the others are normal, can be easily replaced, but not necessary).

This guitar not only has a wonderfully balanced tone, it was also the flagship of the solid Framus basses at the time and can easily keep up with the Fender basses at any time. Due to the variability of the PU's, they cover everything from pop, R&B, blues rock and jazz. It's wonderfully easy to play, ideal for quick fingers and those who want to become one. Due to its excellent condition, it is also a real collector's item and almost impossible to find in this condition.
