Höfner 457/S (special version) – 1969 German Vintage Archtop Jazz Guitar / Gitarre

This is a very rare version of the model 457 by "Höfner". Höfner was a german luthier, who produced many instruments during the golden age of german guitarmaking between the 50s and the 80s. They where known worldwide for their excellent german craftsmanship and the reliability of their instruments. Many famous musicians, like for example Paul McCartney, played Höfner for that reason.

The 457 was a mid-high class Archtop model produced from 1952 up to 1990. This version of the 457 is something really special though. It is one of the first, where Höfner introduced the the one-piece maple neck for the 457. It also has the F-holes of the newer 477 model. This shape and the one piece single maple neck changes where reversed quickly, because they wanted to keep that for the 477 model and continue with the 457 as it is. Therefore, this is one of the rare 457 wich still has those changes. Here is a link to another one being described on the vintagehofner website:

The model has a solid german spruce top, solid maple back and sides, a one piece single maple neck and a rosewood fretboard. It is finished in a mild orange sunburst.

The guitar is in a really good condition for its age. It got extremly little wear and got treated very well. The tuners turn smootly and hold the string tension well. Every part on it is original and nothing is missing. The guitar got checked by a luthier recently and it got new strings. The frets have very little wear, so they dont need to be swapped out any time soon. The neck is 100% deadstraight and the action is low, so it is comfortable to play. The sound is very jazzy and well fitting for the music of the 50s and 70s.

The guitar comes in a protective bag and can be played immediatly.

I ship worldwide with DHL and with the DHL-shipping insurance wich goes up to 500€. I am not going to lie to you or blandish a possible transport risk like some other people do. International shipping can be dangerous and packages are sometimes treated roughly. If you however choose to have an international shipment, I will do my absolute best to protect the guitar. I have collected a lot of experience in the past on how to ship a guitar securely. I will take photos of the packaging and the exact condition of the guitar right before I ship it. You should know, that after shipping the guitar and entering the shipping number, I am not responsible for anything anymore and my job is done. But I will gladly back you up with the insurance case with said photos and exact details in the rare case anything goes wrong. The standart insurance I ship all guitars with is up to 500€. If you want a higher insurance, you can get that, just ask me first.
