Sakai Mokko (~Teisco/Kawai) EG-2T ~1968 made in Japan - Mosrite style model

Welcome to another fine guitar from The Old Europe! Please make sure to read the entire description below carefully, and look at all the pictures.

General introduction and background:

Sakai made EG-2T guitar. This guitar was among the first series of models that were to Europe by this little known Japanese company in the late 1960s and early 1970s, nick-named "Hertiecaster" (because they were famously sold at mall chain "Hertie"). Sakai took over production of entry-level Japanese guitars, along with Chushin, after Kawai/Teisco (Kawai had bought Teisco from insolvency in 1968) stopped producing such guitars in about ~1970. A similar Kawai-made model of this variant exists, yet it sports slightly different pickups and a solid wood body. This is the Sakai made one.

Measurements, weight and other specs:

-     Scale: 628 mm

-     Nut: ~42,5 mm

-     Weight: 2,48 kg

-     Pickups: two airy singlecoils, controlled with master volume pot and a master tone pot, and 2 switches

-    Body: multiply

-     Neck: Not entirely sure about the neck wood, it might be some exotic one, with a zebrano fingerboard, narrow and small vintage frets.

Condition:

-     Body: Good condition with a few scratches and dings and dongs. Please look at the pictures!

-     Neck: straight neck, frets show little wear (7/10). The fretboard has some cosmetic scratches which are not noticable when playing. The neck is adjustable with the trussrod. No side dots.

-     Electronics: fully functional. Volume and Tone potis have been cleaned.

-     Hardware: fully functional. The bridge is non-moveable, so the intonation (which is about right) cannot be adjusted.

-     Originality: All original except for the trem arm, it's a precise replacement part.

Sound and Playability:

-     Playability and string action: The guitar plays very easily with a string action of currently set to 1,9 mm - the bridge is not maxed out. There is no shim under the neck.

 - Intonation: the bridge cannot be moved to fine tune the guitar, but intonation is about right.

-     Sound: very warm and twangy, airy single coil sound from the pickups. Please watch the video

Repairs, Service:

-     Complete cleaning of body, parts and fretboard

-     Frets polished and fretboard oiled

-    Full check of the electronics, the wiring is all ok.

-     New 10 gauge Pyramid strings put on

-     Set up as good as possible

-     Ready to be played (just tune it up)

-     No case included. Will be shipped in wrap and sturdy cardboard box.

Please allow 1-2 days from pick up for delivery in Germany, and 1-2 weeks within the EU. US, Canadian and over overseas buyers:  Shipping prices are of Fedex, which is expensive, but very reliable and delivers in ~3 days. Tracking is provided immediately when shipped out within the system. Please refrain from giving a review before you have received the guitar.

AFTER DELIVERY: After receiving the item, please inspect the package for obvious damages and make photos if there are any. After unpacking, check the item immediately for damages or other undocumented flaws. I accept a 14 days return and will pay for shipping if the item is in a different condition than described upon arrival. Please note that I will only take the item back entirely, but not grant any reduction of price and generally only accept returns if the item was unaltered after arrival.

CITES protection: all of the items I sell have been legally imported to the EU before January 1st 2017 and are registered with the authorities in Hamburg, Germany (if applicable).
