Gibson J-160E John Lennon 2012

Gibson J-160E John Lennon Model, 2012, Limited Edition of 750 Guitars * No. 545 of 750

We have received a 2012 Gibson J-160E John Lennon Model—an iconic instrument that is indispensable to any discussion of the Beatles’ sound.

The J-160E is one of Gibson’s earliest electro-acoustic models, introduced in 1954, and gained worldwide popularity because John Lennon and George Harrison used it from the very beginning of their careers. It is also known for being used in numerous early Beatles recordings and live performances, including *Please Please Me*, making it a coveted instrument among Beatles fans.

This instrument is the 2012 John Lennon Model. Featuring a round-shouldered body with a sunburst finish, a top-mounted P-90-style pickup, and volume and tone controls, it faithfully reproduces the characteristics of the vintage J-160E. When plugged into an amplifier, it produces a unique, warm, and rich sound reminiscent of an electric guitar—despite being an acoustic—and when strumming chords, it delivers a tone with a strong presence that evokes the Beatles’ signature sound.

Thanks to the moderate amount of playtime typical of a 2012 model, the sound has a well-broken-in quality. The calmness and rich resonance that a new instrument simply cannot match are the unique charms of a used guitar. While there are some minor scratches and scuffs from use, it remains in excellent condition considering its age and plays beautifully. The neck is stable, making this a guitar you can enjoy for many years to come.

As this is a highly sought-after model on the market, if you’ve been searching for one, please be sure to consider this opportunity.

[Condition]

Repair marks from a top crack (extending from under the bridge on the 6th string side to the body end); the top has a slight bulge

Since the top is made of laminated wood with a ladder bracing structure, the crack is limited to the top layer of wood, and

as the bracing runs through the affected area, we believe there are no issues.

At the time of listing, with the neck in a generally straight condition, the string height at the 12th fret is 2.5 mm on the 6th string side and approximately 2 mm on the 1st string side.

The frets have about 80% of their original depth remaining.
