Genelec 8380A 3-Way SAM Main Monitor (White)

Overview

The Genelec 8380A is a 3-way Smart Active Monitor (SAM) main monitor for medium and large studios and listening rooms. A 15 in woofer in a 110 litre reflex cabinet works with a Minimum Diffraction Coaxial (MDC) midrange and tweeter, driven by 500 W, 250 W and 200 W amplifiers. It reaches 122 dB short-term SPL and 29 Hz to 43 kHz (-6 dB), with a minimum listening distance of 1.3 m. The RAM-L2 amplifier mounts on the back of the cabinet or moves to a 19 in rack, and the cabinet and amplifier match the dimensions of the 1038A, 1038B and 1238A for direct upgrades. GLM software calibrates the monitor to the room. The 8380A is built in Iisalmi, Finland.

• Coaxial MDC driver: A 5 in midrange cone and a 1 in metal dome tweeter share one axis, joined smoothly to a large DCW waveguide.
• 15 in woofer: Reaches 29 Hz (-6 dB) and 122 dB short-term SPL at 1 m.
• GLM calibration: AutoCal room calibration with 16 parametric notch filters and 2 LF and 2 HF shelving filters. Needs a 9320A Reference Controller or GLM Calibration Kit, sold separately.
• Analogue and digital inputs: Balanced XLR analogue input, AES/EBU XLR input with thru output, and two RJ45 GLM network ports.
• Detachable amplifier: The RAM-L2 amplifier comes off the cabinet and fits a 19 in rack at 3U. Front plate and rack ears are included.
• Vertical or horizontal: Mount it upright, on its side, free-standing or flush-mounted in the wall.
• System matching: Phase matched with the 8300 series, The Ones and The Main Ones for mixed stereo and immersive systems.
• Low standby power: Intelligent Signal Sensing drops standby consumption under 0.5 W.
