The Gibson Les Paul "Chainsaw" (or Protector Case) is a hard case that has become a cult classic, manufactured between the late 1970s and late 1980s. Its nickname comes from its very robust, angular, molded polyethylene shell, offering exceptional protection against shocks, humidity, and temperature variations. Produced in several generations with different linings (red, blue, brown, or black) and plastic and later metal clasps, it has been fitted to numerous Les Pauls as well as other Gibson models. Despite weighing approximately 5 to 6 kg, it remains highly sought after by collectors and musicians for its legendary durability. Here, one of the clasps is broken.
