About this listing
A quintessential model among Gibsonfs non-standard guitars, it remains a staple of the lineup to this day. Manufactured in 2009, this Explorer?which, like the Flying V, has remained a flagship model in Gibsonfs line of unconventional guitars since its 1958 debut?is a reissue of the highly popular 1976 specification. Featuring a six-string tuner headstock?a rarity for Gibson?and an asymmetrical, radical body shape, this model has been widely favored by metal guitarists since the 1980s due to its excellent playability in the higher frets and the protruding body wing on the 6th string side, which helps maintain a stable picking form. It features a mahogany body with a set-neck construction featuring a mahogany neck and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. It is equipped with high-power 496R/500T pickups, a Nashville-tuned O-Machine bridge, and a 2-volume/1-tone control with a 3-way toggle switch. There are general scratches and dents throughout, paint reaction on the back of the neck, and paint peeling around the headstock. The frets have at least 70% of their original depth remaining, the neck is in good condition, and the truss rod is adjustable.
