Finished in relic Pink Paisley, this Fender Custom Shop Telecaster Thinline is anything but subtle. Visually bold yet thoughtfully spec’d, it pairs semi hollow construction with two Wide Range CuNiFe humbuckers, giving it a broader, fuller voice than a traditional Tele while still retaining clarity and note definition. There is warmth and air in the response, but the attack remains focused and articulate.
The oval C neck sits comfortably in the hand, matched with a 9.5 radius and narrow tall frets that make bending and vibrato feel easy without sacrificing control. Relic Schaller F key tuners complete the look and keep everything cohesive. It feels like a well balanced Custom Shop build rather than just a statement piece.
The Telecaster Thinline itself was introduced in 1968, at a time when Fender was facing increasing competition from lighter, semi hollow designs coming out of other manufacturers. Designed by Roger Rossmeisl, the Thinline concept was a practical solution, chambering the Tele body to reduce weight while maintaining the snap and directness that made the original design so successful. It allowed Fender to stay competitive without abandoning the Tele’s identity.
This example comes supplied in its original hard shell case and stands as a distinctive and highly playable Custom Shop instrument that blends late 60s innovation with modern refinements.
