Analog Diode Clipper 3 Distortion Box for Mixing and Mastering Music Audio Colour Box - Hot !

The God Almighty Beautiful Diodes 3! Two stereo sets of super rare vintage diodes for enhancing your mixes and masters.

The vintage BYX36 diodes were used in a Lot of audio gear back in the day (still used now) - from guitar pedals to studio gear. They do the regular Nice 3D thing at low saturation settings - but I ran 2 of these in Parallel front to back configuration to get Even More saturation / distortion out of them - so when pushed they can really make your synths / vocals etc sing - and when Really pushed they can flatline into white noise (!!!).

Both sets were processed in line at various saturation settings (using Logic’s I/O utility) and also Parallel processed - these parallel takes have incremental gain as you’ll hear in the video. You can get some otherworldly distorto madness - which always sounds musical and (to my ears) beautiful - imagine the energy you can add to music automating the input and output gains!

The second set are vintage Germanium Gold Banded and are much more open sounding so super nice on vocals, acoustic instruments and electric guitar busses etc - jazz and soul mixes. Using the free Airwindows Purest gain is critical in getting the exact right amount of saturation for your audio source (and also for rebalancing the volume after the diodes) as it can + or - in tiny increments. Either running audio through these in series or parallel will get you much more punch and clarity - listen to what they do to the beats in the video (analog clipping rules!) - then listen to the beautiful bloom they give to the horns at the video’s end. Sublime.

So - great for regular mixing duties - beautiful mastering tools - and absolutely wondrous for creative mindwarp skullduggery. There are no plugins that sound anything like them.

They are sensitive bits of gear - so start running audio into them at -18db and work your way up to the desired saturation / clipping.

You can of course run side one into side two (or vice versa) for extra flavours - and for extra yumminess run the output of side one into the output of side two! (or vice versa!)

All analog - all passive. Balanced inputs and outputs.
