Dr. Böhm DIGITAL DRUMS is a rhythm machine made in Germany in '82.-'83., that’s been called ''the German Linndrum''.
It came in 2 versions:
1. as a drum machine
2. as a drum machine + analog accompaniment, like this one.
It has 13 bit, 21.3 kHz digital drum samples and analog sound generation for the accompaniment. This machine has preset rhythms (36 classic rhythms x 4 variation for each + autofills, breaks and solos for each) and most importantly, it is also programmable (multiple sounds per step!), in step by step mode or in real-time while playing a loop (it has a metronome too); you can set measures, global tempos, lengths...
On the accompaniment version (like is this machine), a dedicated keyboard can be attached (it is included), in order to set chords while playing live. The cords are not programmable, only drums are.
It has two 1/4inch outs (for stereo out), one 1/4inch stereo headphone output, ''cassette'' out (for saving memory) and ''trigger'' output for FSK synching (i can explain this if needed). This machine is ultra-rare! It really sounds fantastic and it's fun to use. I really doubt one can find a drum machine that sounds this lush! This machine is ideal for someone who likes warm/lush sounds and who wants to sound unique....and who likes to touch and smell real gear opposed to vst pictures :)
I've read that it was even used on Michael Jackson's "Billy Jean" (google it!)

Also, this thing is huge! ...10 kg, 48x36x16cm >>> 22 lbs, 19x14x6 inch (hence the shipping cost, sorry; actual shipping cost is even higher).
...it has great appearance; i have always imagined that if Darth Vader had a drum machine it'd look like this; it looks like a part of a control board on the Death Star :)

This machine is in a pretty good cosmetic condition, taking into account that it was built in the early '80. Please, see the pictures for more info about cosmetics.

It has one problem... the accompaniment part sometimes works, sometimes not, usually not. I guess it's a connection problem cause sometimes it depends on how I connect the keyboard. Someone told me that it could be a problem with an inside battery; but only if the accompaniment part has it's own battery cause the drum part works without any problems. I couldn't find a synth-repare-man in my small town, nor did i care much about the sounds; it's primarily a drum machine after all and I've set the price as if it is a basic model without the accompaniment part. The last one I saw selling was a basic model almost two years ago and it was sold for US $1,500.00 on eBay.

I can send via mail a scanned manual and schematics that are in German; as far as i know, an English version never existed.

You can find videos and discussions on the net about operating this beauty but you can easily figure it out by your self. For now, i can share one important tip that you'd hardly find by your self: If you need to reset the machine and clear the RAM: turn off the machine, press the four variation buttons and hold them, turn on the machine. Voila!
I can answer any question, now or later, if needed. Feel free to ask.
The machine in the youtube video is not this listed item. This video only shows some of its presets but what you can do by programming it, with multiple sounds per step...The sky is the limit!
