So... what I have here is a very weird, but very real, USA-made development prototype of the Quilter Labs TB202. I asked Quilter about it once it came into my possession, and in short this is a normal TB202 but with "cut features" and experiments performed on it. I presume it was sold at one of their public clearance days a few years ago, and it wound up with me a year or so ago. I couldn't resist trying to see what on earth it was. Here's a short list of the experimental "mods", which were performed by a tech at Quilter Labs California:
- Gain, Bass, Mid, Treble, Voicing, front panel effects loop etc. all as normal and unchanged
- Reverb and Limiter functions removed (and replaced by...)
- Two additional gain stages added on mini toggles, with a "pre and post"
- RJ45 port added for remote switching of these stages
- Rear 9v Centre Negative barrel output for effects pedals
- Rear 5v USB A output for... a phone? Music light? Who knows.
- Balanced XLR outputs not present
The front panel of the amp is printed according to the stock controls, but because the limit and reverb are removed everything is shifted to the right. I chucked some labelmaker text on there according to where they actually correspond, which you can see in the first image.
Anyway... watch the little video to hear how these modifications sound (and me repeat this description a bit). Weird little guy!
No original box for it, but I'll pack it securely for shipping and give you a speaker lead for your trouble.
