Alesis Monitor One - Studio Monitors - Fair

Why This One

  • Fair condition - noticeable signs of use including scratches, scuffs and cabinet wear
  • Please note: the tweeter on one monitor is not working, resulting in muffled audio from that speaker - see condition notes below before purchasing
  • All other applicable functions tested and verified working
  • Replacement 1" silk dome tweeters for the Monitor One are still obtainable, making this a realistic repair for anyone comfortable with basic driver replacement

Condition: Fair
This Alesis Monitor One is a fair-condition pair of studio monitors. The tweeter on one of the two monitors is not working, and the audio from that speaker is noticeably muffled as a result. The pair otherwise operates, and has passed our 9-point functional test with 1 item(s) not applicable to this unit, but it is not fully functional as supplied and will require a tweeter or crossover repair to restore correct performance. The monitors also show significant signs of previous use, including scratches, scuffs and cosmetic wear to the cabinets and rubber textured finish. Please review all photos carefully, as they provide an accurate representation of the cosmetic condition of the product.

About This Model
The Alesis Monitor One is a passive two-way near-field studio reference monitor that became one of the most widely used speakers of its type after winning a TEC Award within months of its introduction, earning a place in professional facilities and home studios alike. It pairs a proprietary 6.5" low-frequency driver using a mineral-filled polypropylene cone with a highly damped linear rubber surround and a 1.5" voice coil, with a 1" ferrofluid-cooled silk dome tweeter, crossed over at 2.5kHz using second-order filters. The silk dome was chosen deliberately to avoid the harshness and ear fatigue associated with metal or plastic tweeters, making long mixing sessions less punishing. Alesis' SuperPort venting technology addresses the choking effect of port turbulence found in smaller near-field designs, giving solid bass transients and low-frequency extension below what comparable monitors of the era managed. Frequency range is 45Hz to 18kHz ±3dB, with a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, sensitivity of 88dB SPL at 1 watt/1 metre and power handling of 120 watts continuous and 200 watts peak - roughly double the rating of typical near-field monitors of the period. Rear connections are 5-way binding posts accepting large diameter cable or banana plugs, and the cabinets measure 15 x 9.25 x 8.5 inches at 15lbs each, finished in a non-slip rubber textured laminate and supplied as a mirror image left/right pair for symmetrical mounting.
