Overview
In the early 80s, Kramer began to shift from aluminum based neck construction to more economical wooden necks. Some models from this transition era were available with both neck styles, including the V-shaped Vanguard bass. Those with an aluminum neck were called the Vanguard Special while those with a wooden neck were called Vanguard Standard.
