About this listing
A collector grade 1982 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Ebony with two features that set it apart from the usual early-'80s Custom: original Tim Shaw–era humbuckers and chrome hardware in place of the standard gold.Tim Shaw pickups. Gibson brought in Tim Shaw in the early '80s to recreate the original PAF, and these pickups are now regarded as some of the best humbuckers Gibson made between the '60s and the modern Custom Shop era. Both are original and unmolested. The neck measures 7.36k and the bridge 7.28k. They're warm, articulate, and open, with real vintage character. Both pickups carry the Gibson patent number stamp and are ink-stamped "382," matching the guitar's March 1982 build date. The cover solder appears factory original. Photos of the baseplates are included.Chrome hardware. The Les Paul Custom shipped from the factory with gold hardware as standard. Chrome was a departure from spec and is rarely seen on Customs from this period.Weighs 10 lbs 12 ozBlack speed knobs and 5-ply pickguardGibson crank tuners with Keystone buttonsTune-O-Matic bridge3-way toggle, 2 volume, 2 toneOriginal CTS pots dated late 1981; control cavity photos included12" radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, 24.75" scaleBound ebony fingerboard with mother-of-pearl block inlays1.69" Corian nut3-piece maple neck with a slim taper profile (.803" at the 1st fret, .980" at the 12th)Multi-ply white double binding on the body; bound neck and headstockSolid mahogany body with maple topSerial 80762532 (built March 1982)Condition: This guitar is exceptionally well preserved for its 44 years, and the fretboard, neck, headstock, and binding all present beautifully.
