About this listing
We cannot offer better prices or discuss potential trade-ins on reverb, only on our websiteThis Jazzmaster feels like it’s already done the whole “look how vintage and delicate I am” routine… and then decided it couldn’t be bothered anymore. It’s a 2014 Fender Japan ‘62 Reissue in Olympic White with the tort guard, so yeah — from a distance it’s doing the full Pinterest-board offset thing. Lean it against an amp and suddenly everyone’s in a band. But up close, it’s very obviously been out in the world. There are dents, scratches, buckle rash, a little bump on the headstock… nothing dramatic, just enough to say “this guitar has not been wrapped in a blanket its whole life.”The neck’s got that medium C shape with a glossy back and a 7.25" radius, which sounds like it should be a bit precious… but it’s not. It just feels worn in. Like it already figured itself out years ago and doesn’t need your input anymore. There’s some fret wear, but in a reassuring way — like a favourite pair of shoes that you’re definitely not throwing out.Someone’s also quietly handled the usual Jazzmaster “quirks.” It’s got a Mustang bridge with steel saddles, which is code for “you can actually play it without wondering what that noise was.” The original tremolo is still there too, doing that smooth, floaty thing where you touch it and immediately feel you’re more expressive than ever.Sound-wise, it’s exactly what you want. The original Fender Japan pickups — Alnico V, flat poles — give you that big, open Jazzmaster thing. Kind of wide, slightly lazy, but in a good way. It’s not trying too hard, it just sits there sounding cool. Clean tones are great, and when you push it, it gets that slightly messy edge that makes you play differently (usually better, occasionally worse, but more confidently either way). All the wiring is still original, so you’ve got the full Jazzmaster control situation. The lead circuit does the usual thing, and then the rhythm circuit is there for when you want everything to suddenly sound like it’s thinking about its life choices. Takes about five minutes to understand, then you act like you knew all along. There are also Schaller strap locks pins, which is always a nice sign that someone trusted this guitar enough to stand up with it. Brave, but correct.Overall, it’s not precious, not fussy, and not trying to be a museum piece. It’s just a really solid Jazzmaster that’s been played enough to chill out a bit.Pick it up, mess around for a minute, hit the trem like you’re in a slow-motion music video… and yeah, that’s basically it.This instrument received a full professional setup with deep body cleaning, body polish, neck deep clean, lemon oil fretboard treatment, full electronics check, truss-rod and action and intonation adjustment. Restringed with D'addario 10-46 Nickel-plated steel strings. Please note that although we put our heart and soul and also all our knowledge into every single guitar we sell, a setup is a personal preference. However, we try to get the best playability out of every guitar and set them up so you can play both rhythm and lead. We also pull them all apart to clean and check every single component and replace all unreliable parts with new ones, from dodgy pots to the whole wiring, tuners, string trees, nuts and etc. All the work done is described in detail in the listing. We make sure that every guitar we sell is problem free and take full responsibility for the accuracy of our listing descriptions. All photographs are done by a professional photographer and processed on a calibrated monitor. Some colours might look slightly different on your monitor, but we will always put the official Fender colour name in the listing description, so please study pictures of other guitars with the same colour if you are unsure.
