Starting off 2017 with plenty of noise in tow, Way Huge are debuting two new raucous pedals at this year’s NAMM: the Conquistador Fuzzstortion and the Russian Pickle Fuzz.
Built with a nod to the spitting goodness of vintage fuzzes, the Conquistador is hell-bent on wringing out aggressive stone rock tone for days. A gated fuzz through and through, this pedal keeps the signal under tight lock without a drop of feedback or resonance while it’s kicked in.
Plus, with the easy three knob volume/tone/fuzz layout, you can get a surprising spread of tones from a sludgy scooped mids to bass-absent ‘60s bite to fuzzy walls of death akin to Queens of the Stone Age.
On the smoother end of the two newest Way Huge models is the Russian Pickle. Clearly constructed with the Sovtek Big Muffs in mind, the Russian Pickle is immediately distinguishable for its clear character.
Sitting full in the midrange with a solid low-end presence, the Russian Pickle is a particularly versatile fuzz capable of finding a home in multiple genres. One of the smoothest fuzzes we’ve heard in some time, this effect is pulls off the impressive feat of retaining chord clarity while still putting plenty of stank on your signal.
