Video: Paiste 900 Series and 900 Color Sound Cymbals at NAMM 2017

Between the new 900 line, multiple series expansions and a limited edition Nicko McBrain package, Paiste had a lot to offer drummers at NAMM this year.

The 900 series offers an updated take on Paiste’s legendary 2002 alloy at a lower price point and features a special new finish that’s slightly darker – in step with the series’s tempered brightness and more controlled character. These cymbals will also be available with Paiste's distinct Colorsound treatment as shown in the video above, and promise to be an affordable way to nail the classic Paiste sound. Embodying the cymbals’ versatile nature, a wide variety of sizes and models are available: Crash and Heavy Crash models are offered in one inch increments from 16”-20”, Rides and Heavy Rides in 20” and 22” (or the 24” Mega Ride, if you’re brave enough), Splashes in 10” and 12”, and Chinas in 14”, 16” or 18” versions. Hi-Hats and Sound Edge Hi-Hats are available in 14” models, while the Heavy Hi-Hat comes in either 14” or 15” models.

Also on display this year, a limited edition crate featuring an exact replica of Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain's setup as used on the band's Book of Souls World Tour, right down to the custom Mayan hieroglyphs and Maiden-fonted Paiste logos. Only 83 sets will be produced, and include 12 cymbals, CD/LP copies of the band's latest album, signed COA and drum sticks in a custom wooden crate.

Elsewhere, venerable high-end lines gained some new models: the Signature series sports new 18” and 20” Fast Medium Crashes designed in conjunction with Nicko McBrain, and the Signature Traditionals series welcomes the return of 17” and 20” Thin Crashes. Thin Rides, Thin Hi-Hats, and a 22” Swish join the Masters series, while Giant Beat gains 19” and 22” Multis and 16” Hi-Hats.
