API's booth at AES is always a must-see, with a variety of consoles and outboard gear typically taking up an enormous corner of the showroom floor. At this year's 139th AES Convention at the Javits Center, API's president Larry Droppa walked us through the new 535-LA, a 500 Series line amplifier with the fully discrete transformer-loaded circuitry for which API is known. Also featured here is the ultra-slick The Box small format recording and mixing console, as well as some gear from JDK Audio, the range of affordable outboard processors built by API.
