Tris Imboden’s professional career has spanned 6 decades and is going strong!  From his first professional gig was in 1970 with the now legendary HONK, and his current gig with The Tris Imboden Yacht Stars, Tris has performed with A-list music icons including Neil Diamond, Kenny Loggins, Firefall, Richard Marx, Steve Vai, Roger Daltrey, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Chicago, Anita Baker, Julio Iglesias, Stevie Wonder and many more. Highlights of his career include driving Kenny Loggins' "Footloose", and "I'm Alright” to the top of the charts plus a 28 year gig as a member of Chicago.

Tris amassed a massive collection of drum gear over his six decade career. He’s decided to keep just enough to cover his current gigs, and asked my help finding worthy homes for the remainder of his collection. 

Tris Imboden’s endorsement relationship with Paiste began in 2007 and is going strong almost 2 decades later. 

From the personal collection of legendary drummer Tris Imboden, longtime drummer for Chicago, this Paiste 18" Signature Dark Energy Mark I Crash represents one of Paiste's most refined and expressive modern crash cymbals.

Introduced in 2004, the Signature Dark Energy series combines the warmth and complexity of dark cymbals with the projection and shimmer of Paiste's proprietary Signature Bronze alloy. The Mark I Crash is known for its immediate response, broad frequency spectrum, and exceptionally musical decay, making it equally at home in the studio or on stage.

Weighing 1480 grams, this example sits almost exactly at the median weight for the model, offering an ideal balance of fast attack, dark warmth, and controlled sustain. It produces a rich, complex crash with brilliant highs and an even, layered decay that made it a favorite for Tris' versatile work with Chicago.

The cymbal remains in excellent overall condition with normal signs of professional use and no cracks, keyholing, or edge damage.
