The Ardingly Variant combines the same handmade construction, distinctive hardwoods and individual character as my main range with a simpler selection of hardware and electronics, creating a more accessible route into a one-off British-built guitar. With dual P90s, 24 frets and the familiar curving Ardingly shape, it's a versatile, characterful instrument built entirely by hand in Sussex.

I have used perfectly serviceable hardware, electronics and pickups from earlier Shepherd prototypes rather than the usual quality I place on my builds. This means you're getting a UK handmade guitar for a fraction of the price of one my custom builds.

Body - single piece of African Mahogany (Khaya), with afrormosia and Wenge control cavity cover (slight chip out at top). Wenge custom made tail piece.

Neck - 3 piece, African Mahogany (Khaya) with Wenge laminate. Wenge fretboard with Ash dot inlays markers. Copper rod side dot markers. 25.5in scale length. 12in radius. Bone nut.

Frets - 24 nickel/silver medium.

Pickups - matching Music lily pro P90's in cream.

Hardware - no brand black in line tuners. No brand tunomatic style roller bridge in black.

Electronics - all in one loom with LP style switch, mini 500k pots and capacitor, and output jack.

Custom Knobs - 2 x Sapele and Wenge custom knobs

Will come in a hard foam case (gear4music).
