This is an octaver pedal from CONN, a renowned manufacturer of wind instruments!

Developed by C.G. Conn in the 1970s, this vintage octaver pedal offers unique sound-shaping capabilities. Originally designed for wind instruments, its distinctive features garnered recognition not only from wind instrument players (saxophone, trumpet) but also from guitarists, keyboardists, and experimental music artists. The top right knob also serves as the main power switch, and adjustments are made using the selector switches and control knobs. The selector switches are labeled UNISON/SOP/BASS/SUB BASS from top to bottom, but some effects are somewhat ambiguous, so intuitive adjustment is recommended. At its maximum octave setting, it produces a thick, fuzz-like sound. Unlike the precision of modern digital effects pedals, it possesses the rawness and unpredictable harmonics characteristic of analog circuits. It has a unique texture reminiscent of octave fuzz or synthesizers, and its sound has a truly one-of-a-kind presence. However, due to its considerably unstable operation, it is not recommended for those seeking reliability and precision. While rare and not a particularly popular model, its unique sound, a fusion of fuzz, octaver, and filter, takes players to a realm impossible to replicate with modern equipment. It features a belt-mount holder and a lightweight, distinctive boat-shaped plastic enclosure, suggesting it was designed for standing performance alongside wind instruments. It's a true collector's item, but also possesses significant historical value.

*The function of the added mini-switch on the upper right is unclear, but setting it to the lowest position (electric guitar mode?) allows for relatively smooth sound production with an electric guitar.

*Due to its characteristics, it barely responds to the high strings of an electric guitar.

*Power supply is DC 9V with a mini-jack (bottom of the enclosure).
