About This Model

The Friedman Runt 50 is a 50-watt all-tube head built around two EL-34 power tubes and four 12AX7 preamp tubes, designed by Dave Friedman and made in the USA. It offers two channels — a Clean channel with Volume, Bass, Treble, and a 3-position Bright switch, and an Overdrive channel with Gain, Volume, a 3-band EQ, Boost switch, and global Presence control — covering everything from sparkling cleans that respond well to guitar volume rollback, to high-gain lead tones with the tight low-end and midrange punch the platform is known for. An ultra-transparent series effects loop preserves your tone with no colouration, and an XLR cabinet-simulated output with Ground Lift, Axis, and Level controls makes the amp equally suited to direct recording or front-of-house use without a cabinet. Speaker outputs cover 4, 8, and 16-ohm loads, and the amp accepts pedals — boosts, overdrives, and modulation — exceptionally well.
