These are fantastically weird pedals. They contain the Seek-Wah circuit minus the sequencer circuit and a Super Hard On/SHO circuit with a theremin-style proximity controller. You probably know what they are but they're very versatile and cool. As with almost all ZVEX pedals, do not expect this to be hifi; it's got vibe and crunch and dirt and it's all the better for it.

This one was purchased in Japan and has originally been imported by "Prosound Communications Inc." who were/are the official distributor for ZVEX and some other brands in Japan. It comes with original box and (Japanese) instructions.

A downside of these is that you can't rest your foot on the proximity plate without risking damage to the pedal so a "cocked wah" sound can only be achieved by manipulating the controls, including the trim pot on the back. The trim pot can be easily adjusted with a slotted screwdriver and controls the sensitivity of the proximity plate. You sometimes have to adjust it based on the environment around you because it can be impacted by things other than your foot. You will also need to adjust it based on your footwear (or lack of).

I have noticed on the PCB there is a "TREM OUT" terminal which has nothing connected. I suspect that this is an output for the volume of the SHO modulated by the proximity controller (effectively turning it into a Tremolo Probe). I haven't done the mod because I wanted to keep it as original as possible.

Imperfections:

There appears to have been some work done to the PCB. I have seen photos of the guts of these before and the work by ZVEX tends to be on the raw side but in this case I think the black jumper cable (see pictures) might not be original. I considered cleaning up the original soldering but given that the pedal functions well I decided against it.

There are fairly minor scuffs and scratches on the metal enclosure (pictured).

The volume pot crackles when you change it but it does not impact normal function. From what other people have said I think this is an issue with all of these and not a defect in this particular one.
