The 1978 Ibanez Musician MC400 Musician is a highly coveted, Japanese-made vintage electric guitar that marked a historic turning point for Ibanez. Introduced in late 1977 for the 1978 catalog year, the Musician series was one of Ibanez's first original, proprietary designs, allowing the company to successfully transition away from manufacturing Gibson and Fender law-suit era copies.

Built at the legendary FujiGen factory in Japan, the MC400 is celebrated for its exceptional neck-through construction, elite craftsmanship, and an incredibly sophisticated active electronics package.

• Body Construction: Features a premium multi-layer sandwich design consisting of a mahogany core with carved, highly figured ash body wings.
• Neck-Through Design: A rigid, 7-piece rock maple and black walnut neck that runs completely through the center of the body. It features a comfortable, slender "C" profile and a smooth heel for effortless upper-fret access.
• Fingerboard: Premium dark ebony or rosewood fingerboard with 24 frets and colorful abalone dot position markers.
• Hardware: Heavy-duty gold hardware, featuring a Gibraltar bridge mounted onto a solid brass sustain block embedded into the body, a decorative "cloud" tailpiece, and VelveTune tuning machines.
