The Sennheiser HDV 820 is a flagship headphone DAC/amplifier engineered and handcrafted in Germany, designed as a dedicated partner for high-impedance headphones such as the HD 800 S. At its core sits an ESS SABRE32 DAC handling 32-bit PCM up to 384 kHz and DSD256 files up to 12.3 MHz, feeding a fully symmetrical amplifier circuit with Exact Signal Transmission. Connectivity is extensive: inputs span USB (Type B) with USB Audio Class 2, digital S/PDIF via coaxial and optical, balanced XLR-3 analogue, and unbalanced RCA, while outputs include two 4.4 mm Pentaconn balanced jacks, a balanced XLR-4, and a 6.35 mm TRS — enough to drive up to four dynamic headphones simultaneously.
