A 1960s British-built valve head from Linear Products Ltd (Armley, Leeds), with a valve complement near-identical to the original Vox AC15:

  • 2× EF86 pentode preamp valves (high-gain, glassy AC15 character)
  • 2× EL34 output valves (push-pull, cathode bias)
  • 1× ECC83 phase splitter
  • 1× tube rectifier

Estimated power output ~15–17W based on the valve lineup. Two-input PA-style mixing topology feeds a single high-gain preamp stage. Front-panel controls: Volume 1, Volume 2, Treble, Bass, Power.

Currently fitted valves:

  • Rectifier: VINTAGE MULLARD U52
  • Preamp: 2× National (Matsushita) EF86, red print
  • Phase splitter: 1× National (Matsushita) ECC83, red print
  • Outputs: 2× Groove Tubes GT-EL34B (modern matched pair)

Original transformers, original point-to-point wiring, no modifications visible. The 4-pin "6.3V" accessory heater output on the rear panel has been internally disconnected (otherwise the chassis is original). Output transformer secondary offers 3Ω, 15Ω, and a higher-impedance "no-jumper" tap on the rear-panel selector.

CONDITION AND HISTORY:

Last serviced approximately 2006/7 by an experienced engineer. Stored in dry indoor conditions for approximately 20 years and NOT powered up since storage. Sold strictly as-is for restoration. The new owner should thoroughly check and test all capacitors and verify the bias circuit before any first power-up.

Cosmetically, the chassis and cabinet show their age but remain honest and original. No butchery, no replaced transformers, no hacked wiring.

INCLUDED:

  • Original factory schematic
  • Service notes from the 2006/7 service work
  • All currently fitted valves (as listed above)

WHY THIS AMP:

The EF86/EL34/tube-rectifier combination is a similar valve formula that gives the original Vox AC15 its distinctive voice. With a fresh service this should deliver vintage British chime, glassy clean tones, and a singing power-tube breakup at low-to-moderate volumes. Ideal for studio recording and small-venue use; a real character amp rather than a "loud" one.

POSTAGE:

Local pickup only (collection from BR3). Heavy and fragile (transformers can shake loose in transit).

Any questions, please ask. Honest description, honest seller; this amp is a project for a competent restorer or hobbyist, not a plug-and-play purchase.
