HEX Guitars is a Korea-based brand that specializes in products in the entry to middle class price range.

HEX Guitars has its own factory in Indonesia, and the president himself lives there to control quality at a high level.

Because the president is passionate enough to go into the field himself, instead of leaving it to other companies' factories, they manufacture guitars with such a high quality that you would never guess from the price.

This is a newly started headless style series.

The N500 is equipped with a flexible custom tremolo bridge.

The sophisticated body shape is made of Mahogany.

Two rubber feet are attached to the body end, allowing the guitar to stand stably without a guitar stand.

Roasted maple is used for the neck.

Roasted wood, or Thermo wood, is a new material popularized by Sago new material guitars in Japan.

It was originally developed using Finnish technology as a wood for making saunas.

Treating it at high temperatures volatilizes the water and oil inside the wood, making it highly stable even at high temperatures and high humidity.

In terms of sound, it gives the impression of a richer, more mature sound.

The fingerboard is made of Indian Rosewood with a compound radius of 12-16” fingerboard radius.

Compound radius has a fingerboard shape that is round in the low position and flat in the high position.

Generally speaking, a round fretboard R is good for playability but prone to sound clogging in the high position.

The compound radius solves this problem.

This technology is used by high brands such as Suhr Guitars and Tom Anderson.

The material of the frets is stainless steel.

Stainless steel is cloudless and has high hardness.

Stainless steel frets continue to shine forever and are extremely hard to wear, which has made them popular among high-priced guitar brands in recent years.

The neck shape is slim and non-habitual C shape.

The PU is the original active type humbucking PU.

They use the original PU in many models.

This is not because they want to cut costs, but because they are confident in the quality of the PUs they design themselves.

The staff members who know music and play music on a daily basis have thoroughly researched and designed many elements such as magnets, wires, bobbins, and so on.

The PUs are active, so they are very low noise, clear, and provide a lot of gain. (The amount of gain can be adjusted from the back panel.)

It is also worth mentioning that the sound is never too cold, but rather creates a sound that contains plenty of musical overtones.

Controls are PU selector, volume, and tone (push-pull SW for coil tap on/off).

The balance in the hand is very good, and those who normally play Fender or Gibson will not find the HEX N difficult to play.

The sound is clean and headless, yet it does not lose the musical overtones and fullness of the bass.

The basic quality of the neck area is very high, making the instrument highly playable, and it would be difficult to assert that it is inferior to instruments priced around 200,000 yen.

Overall, it is a great product with high quality in looks, playability, and sound.

It is not a bad choice for those who want to try a headless guitar for the first time, or even as a first guitar.

As a side note, I met them at the Sound Messe in Osaka in 2024.

At first, I misheard the price as 6,000 USD and put the deal on hold, thinking “the quality is high, but the price is also high.

But later I realized that I had misheard and that the price was actually 600 USD, so I immediately contacted them.

A few days later, we had another meeting in Seoul and agreed that GIB, TONIQ would be responsible for HEX's commercial distribution in the Japanese market.

Since then, we have had frequent meetings with them, and we have finally been able to start selling HEX in Japan.
