This is a copy of a box I made for an Electronica client a few years back as she didn't like any of my studio grade distortion units - she just thought they were a bit too processed sounding - which is right - cause a lot of saturator / distortion devices are built by people in dev labs copying other circuits and not working mix engineers. This one was built by a mix engineer. Me! I put the dynamic clipper circuit before the transformers (21674 pair) so you get all the beautiful audio expanding transformer saturation - but it's not hit too hard - the clipper circuit does the initial heavy lifting - and boy does it work. Drums can get a bit of edge - all the way up to being smashed to smithereens - but bass - Jayzus! Listen to what it does to bass. Everything gets bigger, fatter, wider and Mo beautiful. Also sublime on the mix bus! If like everyone else you're sick of plugins and their horrible plasticity - gitcha one of these for your bus and instrument duties! I’d advise getting Airwindows Purest Gain plugin (free) as you can push into the saturator in increments - all the way past 30db!! Balanced jacks in and out.
