Ultracast was Pearl's exclusive precision milled, cast aluminium shell snare drum, finished in a special black lacquer coating (which as you can see has worn off in parts).

Aluminium is a relatively soft metal, providing the warm, round, full bodied tone of a wood shell snare, but you also get the crack, volume and projection of a metal snare. Its bearing edges are precision cut and perfect every time so that they provide ease of tuning and perfect head seating. Ultracast also features tube lugs, stainless steel tension rods, ultra-sensitive S-022NU snares and SuperHoop II rims.

The snare has been stripped and serviced (post photographs), and comes fitted with partially used Remo heads, and original Pearl snare wires.
