Used DeArmond By Guild Starfire Semi-Hollow Body Bass in Sunburst

What makes this guitar special? This great semi-hollow bass was modeled after the original late ‘60s, early ‘70s models of Guild Starfire basses, but was introduced as a budget version under the name “DeArmond By Guild” in attempts to recapture the brand’s vintage vibe and market it at a more affordable price for modern players. It has a surprisingly good build quality, of which is immediately noticeable upon visual inspection and even moreso upon sitting down with it. The body has a nice natural resonance that perfectly matches the warm and woody character of the pickups. The medium round neck is easy to play from the nut to cutaway and balances well with the body weight. Its aesthetic is about as classic as they come with gold and chrome matched with a Sunburst finish, but the unique appointments like the stylized bridge and knobs remind players this is no ordinary bass.

Condition: This bass is in excellent condition overall. There are only light surface scratches throughout the body and neck, but otherwise this bass is in fantastic shape. The frets show very little wear. The neck is comfortable and easy to play. The truss rod functions as it should.  

Body: Double cutaway semi-hollow body with bound maple top, back and sides, in Sunburst finish. Stylized chrome bridge with individually adjustable saddles. Plastic DeArmond top hat knobs.
   
Neck: Medium round maple neck and bound rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. 1 5/8” nut width. Sealed chrome tuning machines.

Electronics: DeArmond 2B Dual-coil humbucking pickups in the neck and bridge. 2 x volume, 2 x tone, 3-way pickup selector.

Weight: 8 lbs 6.2 oz

Playability/Sound: This is a great bass all around. The body is very resonant and, in combination with the pickups, produces a woody and warm tone, yet with a bit of modern punch. The neck is nice and round and comfortable to move around from the nut to the cutaway.
