This set of 6 in line staggered locking Gotoh SD91 tuners are in the traditional Kluson design used on vintage Fender guitars (and used by and sold under the Fender name for their re-issue guitars). To preserve the vintage look of the tuners we opted for Gotoh's Magnum Locking system without the thumbscrew operation, instead these use locking caps on the tuner posts, simply thread the string through the tuner post hole and begin winding, the locking cap will automatically engage at the correct tension locking the string in place, you can then bring the string up to tension as normal (to release simply detune the string until the cap releases, or if the string is broken insert a coin in the locking cap slot and release it from the string).

In combination with the auto locking system we specially commissioned these tuners from Gotoh exclusively with staggered posts to provide the correct string tension over the nut and eliminate the need for string trees, improving tuning stability, the EAD strings have 20 mm tall posts and then the GBe strings have 18.5 mm posts. The press fit bushing fits a 11/32" hole (8.8 mm) in the headstock to secure the string post, if your guitar has 9.2 mm diameter push in bushings (Fender normally use 9.2 mm push in bushings with their reissue vintage Kluson style tuners) please leave the existing bushing in place when changing the tuners (or if you need new 9.2 mm bushings we have these available as a separate item). To replace modern 10 mm collared tuners (those with a hex nut on the front of the headstock) you will need conversion bushings which we also stock as a separate item.
