This is a beautiful Fender
USA James Burton Signature Telecaster, in the very rare White Pearl
finish, with the original tweed hardshell case. Please see all the
pictures below. This is an original first version James Burton Tele
with the Blue(neck), Silver(mid), and Red(bridge) Fender Lace Sensor
pickups(no S-1 switch). Most of these were done in the Black w/ Gold
Paisley finish - in the 23+ years since they were introduced this is
only the second original edition example in the Pearl White finish I've
seen in person. There's a picture of James Burton playing what appears
to be a Pearl White model in the 2003 Fender Frontline catalog(see the
pic). The specs include the Fender Lace Sensors as mentioned above; 5-position
“Strat-o-Tele” switching: Position 1.Bridge Pickup 2.Bridge &
Middle Pickup 3.Bridge & Neck Pickup 4.Middle & Neck Pickup 5.
Neck Pickup; Master volume and tone controls, 1-Piece Maple
neck/fretboard 60’s “U” shape with 9.5” radius & 21 vintage frets;
Gold plated hardware; Fender-Schaller Elite tuning machines with pearl
buttons; and strings-through-body hardtail bridge. As to the date of
manufacture, the serial number dates 1994 while the 60th Anniversary
badge generally indicates a 1996 model. My guess would be that the
neck, at least, was made and numbered in late 1994/early 1995 but the
guitar didn't leave the factory until late 1995/early 1996 when the
first 60th Anniversay badges were being applied. Please see all the
pics and feel free to make your own judgement. This instrument is in near mint condition with just one small scratch on
the top you have to turn in the light to see(see the pic), a tiny
pinhead nick in the finish at the truss rod adjustment area and some
extremely light gold wear. It looks new from a couple of feet away and
there's very little, if any, fret wear. It plays extremely well with
low action, and the tone of the Lace Sensors with the cool switching is
great. All in all an exceptional, rare Telecaster in a gorgeous finish
and configuration that's no longer available - a collector's or player's
piece with incredible tone and gorgeous looks. The original tweed
hardshell case, in great shape, is included, along with a sheet showing
the switch functions of the 5-way switch, Owners Manual, an unopened
Fender polishing cloth, saddle adjustment allen wrench, hang tags,
bumper sticker, and case keys.
