What makes this uke special:  An interesting type of ukulele, the T-18 Tiple has 10 steel strings instead of the typical 4 nylon & is tuned A-D-F#-B.  The first and fourth strings are double, like a mandolin, while the second and third are triple with the center string tuned an octave below the outer strings in each group.  The firsts are tuned in unison.  In this standard tuning you can play harmonies to everybody else’s guitar and make a major contribution to the ensemble.  This particular one has had a bit of work done to it, with a replaced bridge & some overspray on the top.  It's been professionally set up by Cream City Music & plays great with a rich, robust tone.

Cosmetic Condition:  Really nice condition for being nearly 70 years old.  Shows signs of typical wear - various nicks, chips, dents & dings; surface scratches & weather checking.  There are two repaired cracks in the top, treble side near the bridge.  The area was also oversprayed after the repair.  The bridge is not original, but an exact replacement.  Overall the Tiple has a great look to it with a nice patina.

Neck:  Rounded mahogany neck with cream side-dots.  Beautiful Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl dot inlays.  Frets are in great shape with hardly any wear.  Slotted headstock with rosewood overlay.  Nickel strip tuners with newer ivoroid buttons in perfect working condition.  1 7/8" nut width; 17" scale length.

Body:  Solid spruce top with tortoise binding.  Rosewood bridge & multi-ring rosette.  Solid mahogany back & sides with tortoise binding.  A strap button was added to the bass side of the body.  9 1/4" lower bout width; 6 3/4" upper bout width; 3 3/4" depth.  Tiple weighs 1 lb 15.2 oz.  There is no pickup.

Case:  Unoriginal hardshell case included.
