This Hi-Fi amplifier is in good condition. Tested to power on; no further functional testing performed. Note: The unit powers on, but it has not been fully tested as the correct connection was not to hand. Cosmetically, there are quite a few surface marks and scratches throughout, along with some discolouration, most likely due to age. Please refer to the images provided. Please review all photos carefully, as they provide an accurate representation of the cosmetic condition of the product.

About this model

The Quad 405-2 is a stereo power amplifier built around Peter Walker's Current Dumping design, which pairs a low-power Class A driver with a robust Class B output stage. It delivers 100 watts per channel into 8Ω and 100 watts into 3Ω, and is rated for 4Ω to 16Ω nominal speaker loads. A load-sensitive dynamic protection circuit, less aggressive than the original 405's, lets it cope better with demanding low-impedance speakers. Frequency response runs from 20Hz to 20kHz, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 95dB to 96dB. It has no power switch and is typically switched on from a connected Quad preamplifier such as the 33 or 44 via a special interconnect cable.

A great opportunity to own a Quad 405-2 at this price point.
