This is a used UA Apollo 16 QUAD. It is a high-end, elite interface. A massive 16 ins and 16 outs.
It has four dedicated SHARC DSP chips, onboard and always on. While other interfaces can throttle your CPU and make you wait, Apollo 16 runs Neve, Manley, Studer and API emulations in real time, so you can track through world-class analogue character as you record (not after) -- and there’s no latency.
This unit was originally Firewire connectivity only, however UA included a ‘Thunderbolt Expansion Bay’ on the back panel, with which you could add Thunderbolt connectivity. I did this, and it can be seen in the photos. These ports mean that this unit is ready to use with Thunderbolt 2 cables.
In great working condition.
Comes with dedicated power supply. (Does not come with DB-25 cables that you will need to buy yourself. Mighty convenient though – one big cable instead of eight separate ones.)
