Almaro Electra 2570 Mid 70's

Almaro Electra guitar amplifier form I think mid 70's.

In very good condition, with only the odd mark or two on the tolex - its remarkably tidy for 50 years old. All original except a new set of JJ valves.

It's hybrid, valve / tube power amp with solid state pre amp. Valves are 1 x 12AT7 driver and phase splitter and 2 x 6V6 for an output of I'm guessing around 15 Watts. Vibrato is deep and classy, general tone is quite warm with bottom end from the two 10" speakers. Breaks up nicely, mostly the output stage as you turn it up, and it works really well as a recording amp for both a cleanish and gritty sound at manageable levels.

Fairly sure these were (very) budget catalogue amps in the US. So it's 110Volt and will need a suitable step down transformer. More importantly, in the interests of keeping it original I haven't changed the mains lead which is only two core and 2 pin plug - so no earth. I run a separate wire from one of the chassis screws to earth on the step down transformer - please be aware that without an earth connection it is potentially dangerous.

For anyone genuinely interested and not so concerned about 100% originality I will happily fit a three pin mains lead and plug and have it checked by an electrician.

Due to the size I'm unwilling to entrust it to a courier, so collection or your own arrangement for packing/courier. Alternatively, Lenspeed Logistics offer a good service of collection and delivery at a price that's reasonably competitive by the time insurance has been added by a normal courier.
