One of those amps that really doesn’t need much introduction.

The Peavey Classic 30 has earned itself a huge following over the years, combining classic American valve tones with enough gain and versatility to cover blues, rock, country and plenty beyond.

This is the desirable USA-made Classic 30, finished in its classic tweed-style covering and fitted with a Peavey Blue Marvel 12” speaker.

At £349, this is a seriously good valve combo for the money.

Condition

This is in excellent used condition overall and, most importantly, is working perfectly and sounds fantastic.

There are the expected signs of use for an older amplifier, including some light marks, scuffs and general cosmetic wear around the cabinet, metalwork and control panel. The tweed covering has a little age-related wear in places and the carrying handle shows some use, but overall it presents extremely well.

Nothing looks abused or heavily gigged and it has clearly survived very nicely.

Classic 30 Valve Circuit

The Classic 30 is a genuine all-valve combo rated at 30 watts, giving it plenty of volume for rehearsals and gigs while still being manageable enough for home or studio use.

It uses:

* 4 x EL84 power valves

* 3 x 12AX7 preamp valves

* 30 watts output

* 1 x 12” Peavey Blue Marvel speaker

* 16 ohm speaker load

The result is that warm, responsive valve feel these amps are loved for, with plenty of clean headroom available before moving into a wonderfully natural overdriven sound when pushed.

Two Channel Design

The Classic 30 gives you separate Normal and Lead channels, allowing you to move from clean tones through to much more driven sounds without needing a huge pedalboard in front of it.

Controls include:

* Post Gain

* Middle

* Treble

* Reverb

* Presence

There is also channel switching and a boost function, together with connections for an external speaker and remote switching.

Peavey Blue Marvel Speaker

Still fitted with its Peavey Blue Marvel 12” speaker, which suits these amps brilliantly.

It keeps the amp punchy and articulate while still giving the Classic 30 the warmth and midrange character it is known for.

Made in the USA

This is one of the earlier USA-manufactured Peavey Classic 30s, built at Peavey’s Meridian, Mississippi facility.

For players who specifically look for the American-built versions of these amps, this is a very appealing example.
