Teenage Engineering EP-133 KO II 64 MB Sampler Composer - Limited Edition w/ original box
This is the “Champ Edition”, complete with very cool Muhammad Ali box, all original packaging and pull out instruction card.
I bought this new back in Summer 2025. I’ve absolutely adored this little machine and it’s inspired many new musical ideas. If you’re looking to jam around with beats and new song ideas, get into sampling, or curate libraries of interesting sounds, this K.O. II will give you lots of enjoyment.
The workflow is fun and rewards spur-of-the-moment experimentation, but is also suprisingly deep and tweakable when you need to zoom in closer and really micro-manage your compositions. All buttons, knobs and fader work perfectly. Everything has a responsive, satisfyingly “clacky” feel to it, and generally feels very well made. The display is bright and crystal clear, with tons of retro charm
This unit has spent the majority of its life in a smoke-free home studio setup. It has not been gigged with and has barely left the studio at all. There is some minor wear to the screen itself which, while not obvious when using the unit, can be seen when held up to a bright light source. Similarly, there is also some minor wear on the underside of the unit. Neither of these things interferes with the operation of the KO2 at all, but please do bear in mind that this is a used device and as such, shows some superficial wear.

PLEASE NOTE - Unfortunately this unit has shown an issue with its battery-powered mode (i.e. when running without a USB cable plugged in). Previously, the K.O. II would work unplugged when powered by four AAA batteries with no issue. But a few months back, it started misbehaving. It works absolutely fine when plugged in with a USB power supply, but does not appear to run off battery power, even when new batteries have been installed.
According to the internet, this does appear to be a bit of a recurring problem with some K.O. IIs and it’s a known problem to Teenage Engineering. Apparently it is something they’re able to fix pretty easily if you send it to them, but as I’ve hardly used the unit while unplugged, I decided not to do this.
Please bear this in mind if you do decide to buy this K.O. II. I’ve dealt with Teenage Engineering before and had good experiences with them, so I’ve no doubt this would be straightforward for them to sort out. But of course, if you plan to just use it plugged in (say, as part of a home studio setup), it runs perfectly!
