Painfully up for sale is my 1990 Ibanez RG550, Made in Japan, finished in the iconic Desert Sun Yellow.

This is a fantastic example of an early Japanese RG550 and is in great condition for a guitar that’s now over 30 years old. There are a few knocks and signs of use from its life since 1991, which I’ve tried to show clearly in the photos, but overall it’s been very well looked after.

More importantly, it plays like an absolute MONSTER.

It’s recently had a professional setup and fret level, so it’s playing exactly as an RG550 should — low, fast and effortless. The Wizard neck is ridiculously quick and the guitar is an absolute shred monster.

It’s fitted with the superb Ibanez Edge double-locking tremolo, which is incredibly stable and is a huge part of what makes these original Japanese RGs so good. It holds tuning brilliantly and feels fantastic to use.

The guitar sounds great, but honestly it feels even better. It’s one of those guitars that immediately makes you want to play faster when you pick it up.

I’m only selling because it’s simply not getting the love or playing time it deserves. I’ve not owned it particularly long, and rather than have such a good guitar sitting around, I’d rather it went to somebody who’s going to properly enjoy it.
