Yamaha FG9R
Made in Japan
Released in 1966, Yamaha’s FG series boasts a rich history,
this is their flagship model: the FG9R. A very well looked after instrument, in excellent condition.
Featuring an Adirondack spruce top, Indian rosewood sides and back,
a mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard. This all-solid wood, handcrafted model adopts an original shape closely resembling a dreadnought.
The Adirondack spruce top features tapered edge processing, structurally enhancing strength while enabling more effective body vibration. This contributes to both the sound’s power and its delicacy. The Indian rosewood used for the sides and back is carefully selected for its straight grain, utilising premium wood material befitting a top-tier model.
Rich bass and sparkling highs. The characteristic sound spread and clarity of rosewood resonate with the Japanese sensibility, creating that nostalgic ‘Yamaha Sound’.
It pairs exceptionally well with strumming and fingerstyle singing,
producing a rich, resonant volume.
Nitrocellulose lacquer gloss finish.
The distinctive position markers, extending from the fingerboard to the neck side,
employ a technique similar to traditional Japanese kumiko woodwork.
Design elements like the rope-like purfling pattern and the body label made from Japanese paper evoke a sense of Japanese spirit. The neck heel bears the FG logo.
