This collection recreates the famous Stax Records Sound, inspired by Al Jackson Jr.’s solid, 4-beat grooves, and hearty funky drumming. 

These drum sounds featured in this second volume can be heard on famous recordings from “Green Onions” by Booker T. & the M.G.'s, “Respect Yourself” by The Staple Singers, to “Who's Making Love” by Johnnie Taylor, “Knock On Wood” by Eddie Floyd, and many more.

The kits of Stax Records were always a mix of various brands, so a mixture of Gretsch, Tama and vintage Ludwig drums are carefully tuned and muffled to get the sounds needed in this collection. Cymbals are vintage and modern Zildjian A’s and K’s.

Featuring Snare, Kick, Tom, Cymbal and Tom one-hits, including recordings of the infamous wallet dampening trick, Dozens of groove loops and drum fills from Stax Records hits and Groove loops all emulated to be historically accurate.
